Meet Your Tutor

A Bay Area native having received his B.A. in English and Literature from UC Berkeley with a perfect GPA, Michael has four years of experience tutoring and working with students K-12, as well as with college students. He crafted English Language curriculums for high schoolers with a focus on formal essay writing features as well as grammatical and stylistic writing competency.

Previously, Michael also worked as a journalist for AsianFeed, the leading media publication site for Asian American news, where his own skills as a writer were challenged during the national pandemic. As a first-generation Asian American, Michael understands more than most how competitive education can be, especially in the Bay Area, and can empathize deeply with the weight of internal and external expectations that students face today.

Our Signature Approach

Michael fosters critical thinking, self-confidence, and agency in his students and enjoys being a long-term and mentor for them. He excels at teaching English to primary and secondary school students, and endeavors to motivate his kids far beyond the bare minimum of their class - his goal is to make everyone a reader and, more importantly, a writer.

Michael also has extensive experience teaching STEM courses from over 10 schools across the Bay Area including both the private and public sectors within education.

In-person and remote options

All in-person sessions can be conducted either from the comfort of your home or at the hub of knowledge—the library! Remote options are also available for parents with busy schedules.
